Abstract

A research was conducted in databases and meta-search engines such as Pubmed, Scielo and Google Scholar, using Boolean operators and DECS or MESH terms registered (Meningitis, Cryptococcal) AND (Cryptococcosis), freely accessible, in the last 10 years, selecting those that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, which analysed the agent C. Gattii, with the aim of reviewing this microorganism from a microbiological point of view, in order to clarify the knowledge about this fungal agent relatively unknown by health professionals. Due to the limited documents obtained from the research, we expanded our search to other data sources to gather information about C. gattii.
