Abstract

Primary spontaneous pneumothorax is an uncommon entity in pediatrics. Occasionally occurs in adolescent boys due to the rupture of subpleural bullae usually located in apical segments of the upper lobes. Clinically pain and dyspnea are the main symptoms. The chest x-ray shows hyperclarity and an increase in the size of the affected hemithorax, pulmonary collapse. The treatment will depend on the etiology or the hemodynamic repercussion of the latter, its objective is to expand the lung by means of thoracentesis with a catheter or by placing a drainage tube, in addition to the study of the fluid obtained, although video-assisted thoracic surgery is a better method of treatment since it allows to identify and radically treat the cause avoiding recurrences. We present the case of a 15-year-old 6-month-old adolescent who goes to the Emergency Department due to chest pain and dyspnea, with the abolition of vesicular murmur in the right lung with a chest radiograph compatible with the right pneumothorax, with no apparent etiology. In whom the initial approach begins.
